Dr. Marina M. Mendoza joined DPP in April 2018. She is a former Executive Branch Policy Fellow who was placed at the U.S. Department of Justice, National Institute of Justice. In Washington, D.C., her work centered on exposure to violence and victimization across the lifespan. Marina received her Ph.D. from the University of Denver in developmental psychology with a specialty in developmental cognitive neuroscience. She was a recipient of the Administration for Children and Families Child Care Research Scholars Grant and focused on how stress in low-income Latino families affects attendance in Early Head Start programs.

·         First job: I was a nanny for a family friend when I was 16.

·         What do you do in your spare time: I hang out with my family and friends, experiment to perfect my favorite recipes, and travel.

·         What do you like best about living in Denver: I love the variety of places to eat and proximity to the mountains.

·         Favorite song to sing in the car: Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver

·         Weirdest thing you have ever eaten: Escamoles and gusanos de maguey (ant larvae and maguey worms)
