여성 역사의 달 기념: 어린이를 위한 역사 속 유명 여성, 일년 내내 여성을 기리는 방법

Maya Angelou, Dolores Huerta, Anna Jo Garcia Haynes, Greta Thunberg, Amelia Earhart, Susan B. Anthony, Selena, Haifa al-Habibi, Madam C.J. Walker, Eleanor Roosevelt, Malala Yousafzai, Simone Biles. What do they all have in common? These famous women in history for kids and adults alike have used their courage, creativity and influence to pave the way for generations of female leaders to come. Given the countless fearless and inspiring women – past and present – who continue to shape our world,  the 전국 여성 역사 연합 has chosen “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future” as this year’s Women’s History Month theme.

Women’s History Month in the United States has origins back to the early 1800s, but it wasn’t until 1978 when “Women’s History Week” was first celebrated in Santa Rosa, California. Yet, it’s only been in the last 30 years that every president has issued an official 3월을 여성 역사의 달로 지정하는 선언문.

We recognize and appreciate the unique and valuable contributions of women in March as well as every day of the year. Our team shares their thoughts about female educators, leaders, changemakers and notable women in history for kids, with words of encouragement for future generations.

• Iris Micelli, Communications Specialist: “My sister, mom, and my grandmas. I’m so lucky to be surrounded by supportive, kind and loving women who have always set the example of working hard! After becoming a mom myself, I realized the true sacrifice and dedication of being a woman and a mother. It’s inspiring to raise my own daughter to follow in our footsteps and to always know the worth of being a strong woman.”

• 아이린: “교육 여정을 막 시작하는 차세대 젊은 소녀들에게: 여러분은 강하고, 유능하며, 잠재력이 가득합니다. 질문하고, 대담하게 탐구하고, 목소리를 내는 것을 두려워하지 마십시오. 세상에는 여러분의 아이디어, 친절, 리더십이 필요합니다. 여러분이 성장하면서, 여러분을 믿고 모든 단계에서 여러분을 응원할 사람들, 즉 교사, 가족, 그리고 전체 커뮤니티가 있다는 것을 알아두십시오. 큰 꿈을 꾸고, 열심히 일하고, 항상 여러분과 함께 다른 사람들을 격려하십시오. 미래는 여러분이 만들어갈 것입니다!”

While Women’s History Month is a meaningful time to celebrate women’s achievements, honoring the contributions of women is something we can do all year long. From documentaries and podcasts to books and community events, there are many engaging and inspiring ways to learn about women leaders and the impact they continue to make. Visit your local Denver Public Library (DPL) branch to explore recommended children’s books that highlight trailblazing women in history and inspire leadership through powerful storytelling.

You can also explore the stories of notable women across Colorado through in-person exhibits and online resources. Discover inductees, films and inspiring stories – including women who helped shape the early care and education landscape – by visiting the 콜로라도 여성 명예의 전당.

즐기세요 self-guided tour of Denver Public Art pieces with your preschooler during Women’s History Month (and anytime throughout the year!) You can also visit the 콜로라도 여성 역사 센터, a year-round attraction where you can learn about Colorado women. Admission is free for children ages 18 and under.

Take a moment to tell someone who inspires you what they mean to you. A text, phone call, email or handwritten note can be a simple yet meaningful way to show appreciation. You can also invite your child to draw a picture or make a card for someone they admire. As you celebrate Women’s History Month this March and throughout the year, DPP President and CEO Elsa Holguín shares, “Courage, dear heart!” a quote that comes from C.S. Lewis’s 나니아 연대기: 새벽 항해자의 항해.
