Updated Denver Preschool Program Attendance Policy During COVID-19

The health and well-being is our number one priority for all Denver Preschool Program families, providers, and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. To support you all in following one of the major recommendations from Federal and State health officials to stay home if you are feeling sick and avoid close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms, we are updating our attendance policy. From March 1, 2020 through August 31, 2020 we will be waiving the attendance policy and will pay full tuition credits for all approved DPP students as long as they are still enrolled at your preschool (full tuition credits are defined as the approved tuition credit amount that was reported for the student on February 2020 attendance sheets).

The Attendance Policy Waiver means:

  • Families can keep their child at home for as many days in the month as needed without penalty to their DPP tuition credits.
  • Providers that close for any portion of the month to reduce or eliminate potential exposure to COVID-19 will continue to receive each DPP student’s full tuition reimbursement.
  • Attendance sheets for all approved DPP students that are enrolled at your school(s) will still need to be completed and submitted by the 20th of the following month to receive payment.

For any families receiving DPP plus other public funding streams, we will show leniency during this waiver period if the combined funding exceeds your published tuition rates, to allow you to maximize any and all resources available to you. We know that your rates may change so we are also relieving the burden of reporting tuition changes within 15 days, opting to instead wait until the outbreak is contained for confirmation of any tuition rate changes.

We recognize the stress and difficult decision-making this may be causing you, your staff and families and we thank you so much for all that you do for our community. Thank you for sharing your questions, comments and concerns during these uncertain times — we will continue to look for ways we can support you. If you have any questions about these temporary policy updates, please reach out to us at info@dpp.org or call us at (303) 595-4377.
