Through the Denver Preschool Program’s (DPP) 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, the value of Access for All continues to be a key priority. While high quality preschool helps all children who participate, the benefits are particularly great for children who come from low-income families. With this–and our overarching desire to innovate–in mind, DPP announced the creation of the DPP Gap Scholarship pilot this past spring, with the program set to launch on September 1, 2019.
The Gap Scholarship seeks to help increase preschool affordability and access for Denver’s families with the greatest need (families living at or below 300% of the federal poverty line, or DPP Tiers 1, 2 or 3). The pilot will provide custom scholarships to eligible families who contribute more than 12 percent of their income to preschool tuition, despite receiving the DPP Tuition Credit. A limited number of Pilot Providers will be confirmed for the 2019-2020 school year.
The Gap Scholarship will support:
- Full or extended-day students at DPP community and home providers participating in the pilot who do not receive other public preschool funds (Head Start, CPP/ECARE or CCCAP)
- Families living at or below 300 percent of the federal poverty line (DPP Tiers 1, 2 and some Tier 3) who pay more than 12 percent of their income to preschool tuition after the DPP Tuition Credit
Families must complete the Gap Scholarship Agreement and be willing to participate in the evaluation of the pilot program. To learn more please email us at 信息@dpp.org.
