Preschool Information

Denver Preschool Program (DPP) helps Denver families find and pay for preschool. Maximize your preschool savings with DPP and Colorado Universal Preschool.

Welcome to DPP!

Denver Preschool Program (DPP) offers tuition support to all Denver families with 4-year-olds, providing access to over 270 preschool providers. These include licensed family child care homes, center-based programs, and Denver Public Schools (DPS) preschools. Families with 3-year-olds facing economic hardship may also qualify for assistance.

You are eligible for DPP tuition credits if: 

  • Your family lives within the City and County of Denver
  • Your child will be 4 years old on or before October 1 of the school year for which you are applying.
  • Your child is enrolled at a participating DPP preschool

Denver families can also apply for Colorado Universal Preschool (Colorado UPK), increasing their total preschool savings. Learn more below.

  3. Enroll in a participating preschool
  4. Apply for DPP tuition credits

Families applying for Denver Public Schools (DPS) must first apply on the DPS School Choice website before applying for Colorado UPK or DPP. Learn more about choosing a preschool and the steps to apply for tuition support from Colorado UPK and DPP.

Colorado UPK

Colorado Universal Preschool (UPK) offers families in Colorado with 4-year-olds at least 15 hours per week of free, voluntary preschool. Three­ year-olds with qualifying factors may also receive preschool support.

Colorado Department of Early Childhood

The Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC) supports the care, education, and well-being of Colorado’s young children, their families, and early childhood professionals. Through a variety of programs, CDEC helps Colorado families access care and assistance for the early childhood experience. Programs administered through CDEC include:

  • Head Start, which promotes school readiness for children under five in low-income households
  • Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCCAP), which helps low-income families that are homeless, working, searching for work or in school find low-income childcare assistance
  • Early Intervention Colorado, which provides developmental supports and services to families with children birth through 2 years of age who have developmental needs
