Hispanic Heritage Month 2025 is a special time each year, running from September 15 to October 15, to honor and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latine communities. Families from Central and South America, Mexico, Spain, and the Caribbean have shaped our nation’s history, and Hispanic Heritage Month gives us a chance to celebrate together.

This month-long celebration is a chance for families to learn and grow together. Denver Preschool Program (DPP) has rounded up ideas and events to help your family take part in Hispanic Heritage Month.

Activities to Help Your Child Learn about Hispanic Heritage Month 2025

From books to recipes, there are many ways to help your preschooler learn about and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month 2025.

  • Family Movie Night: Honoring Hispanic Heritage: One fun way to introduce your little one to Hispanic and Latino traditions is through children’s films and shows. Animated favorites like Disney’s Encanto and Coco, as well as PBS Kids’ Maya & Miguel celebrate Hispanic heritage in ways that are easy for preschoolers to understand and enjoy. Bonus: they’re full of catchy songs that your child will be singing long after the credits roll!
  • Explore New Recipes Together: Cooking together is another fun way to make memories and introduce your child to Hispanic Heritage Month. Try kid-friendly recipes like tostadas, tres leches ice cream, and other delicious dishes the whole family will love. PBS Kids also offers simple, family-friendly recipes inspired by Hispanic culture to keep the fun (and flavor) going at home.
